Sails Ashore was opened in Dec 2004 as a boutique luxury bed & breakfast and offers a perfect base for exploring Stewart Island.
We chose the name "Sails Ashore" to reflect the close relationship the Island enjoys with the sea. Overlooking Halfmoon Bay and the islands of Foveaux Straits beyond Sails Ashore is a short 4 minutes stroll from the village waterfront, set in a private native and flower garden.

About the Property:
Sails Ashore offers two luxury ensuite rooms, overlooking Halfmoon Bay and about 5 minutes stroll from the waterfront and village centre. Guests enjoy lovely views out over our private garden to the village and harbor, with Foveaux Straits beyond.
Internal decor features extensive use of native Rimu timber, much of it salvaged from old logs, long sunk in a West Coast lake. Muted colours, original art and the best of fittings makes for a casual elegance. Guests enjoy their own wing, each room with a private entrance.
Begin the day with our special breakfast, at your convenience. We Stewart Islanders try to ignore clocks as far as possible, so we do things to suit you.
