Description: John and Jacqui purpose built Mahitahi Lodge as luxury homestay accommodation in 2005. It features many of the West Coast’s native timber, within its architecture and furniture, making it a very welcoming place to stay.
The lodge is a marvelous place to ‘unwind’ and just simply relax. It is only 5 minutes walk from the Mahitahi River and Bruce Bay beach.

Surrounded by the magnificent South Westland landscape, John and Jacqui have developed a high quality lodge to cater for discerning clientale.
To ensure an intimate atmosphere at the lodge, guests are treated like extended family.
To that end, guests will enjoy Jacqui's home cooking and can relax in front of a big open fire - the feature of the lodge's open plan kitchen and lounge. "World class fishing and hunting, bushwalking, photography, the beaches and history - it's all here and it's so peaceful as well".

Location:
Magnificent rimu forests surround this sandy picturesque bay. Situated 30 minutes south of Fox Glacier, Bruce Bay has many historical features. The legendary Polynesian explorer Maui was said to have first landed here. Honouring this cultural heritage, the local runanga have recently built a marae. Remnants of timber milling and gold mining can also be found.
Mahitahi Lodge is located 30 minutes (47 kilometres) south
of Fox Glacier, 50 minutes south of Franz Josef Glacier,
3 hours north of Wanaka and 50 minutes north of Haast.
