Description :
Len and Maree Earl recently refurbished Cheltenham House, to share with guests as bed and breakfast accommodation. Built in the 1930s for the daughter of one of Hanmer's early settlers, the bungalow-style residence remains essentially a home.

About the property:
In the South Island of New Zealand, the Canterbury Region extends from the Clarence River in the north, through the Canterbury Plains to the Waitaki River in the south with the Southern Alps as the western boundary and the 12 nautical miles into the Pacific Ocean to the east. The picturesque semi alpine village of Hanmer Springs is surrounded by 17,000 ha of indigenous and exotic forests and makes it ideal for walks and wheelchair walks.

The Earls have lived with their family in North Canterbury for many years and know the area well. Their gentle Labrador and sociable Siamese add to the friendly touch you'll find at Cheltenham House.

One of the special features of the House is the breakfast, served informally, at your leisure. In the evenings Maree and Len like to spend time with their guests, offering some great local wines.

Cheltenham House has six spacious suites, each facing the sun and beautifully decorated in rich colours. Two open to private sunrooms. Two are situated in the extensive garden.

The Billiard Room features a full sized billiard table, an upright grand piano and open fire - the perfect place to socialise, and relax.

Guests can play boules and croquet on the lawns, entertained by native birds around the garden.
