Whare Kea Lodge is situated on the western shore of Lake Wanaka overlooking the lake and mountains on Mt Aspiring Road. Set on 30 hectares of private farmland ensures guests have the utmost privacy, yet are only a five minute car trip to the township of Wanaka itself.

About the property
Beautiful lakeside walks start right at the front door. Overnight hikes and longer excursions can be arranged with local guides, along with a heli-hike/picnic with a gourmet lunch. Spring and autumn are best for trout and salmon fishing in the surrounding lakes and mountain rivers. The region boasts three spectacular golf courses. During the winter months from July to October, Whare Kea provides the ideal base for heliskiing in the Harris and Buchanan mountain ranges.

Whare Kea accommodates a maximum of twelve guests in six suites, each with king size bed and large bathroom with both double bath and shower. All rooms have direct access to the sun deck.

The day starts with a sumptuous smorgasbord breakfast in the early morning sunshine, and you can fill your days with any manner of outdoor activities or simply relax and replenish yourself.

To ensure easy access to these activities Whare Kea operates its own six passenger Squirrel helicopter, with pick up and drop off from the front lawn.

At the end of the day indulge in a massage or just relax with a drink in the spa overlooking the lake. Then enjoy dinner where the chef handpicks the freshest and best produce, cooks it simply and presents it superbly. After dinner play snooker in the games room or simply lounge by the fire.
