Mt Sturgeon Bluestone Cottages - Grampians National Park The Mt Sturgeon property is steeped in history. Up to 30,000 sheep were once shorn every year by 35 pairs of shearing blades in the woolshed, built in 1870. The cottages are owned and operated by the Royal Mail Hotel, five kilometres away in Dunkeld. A vital link to Victorias Western District for the Cobb & Co Royal Mail Service in the 1850s, the historic hotel has been recently renovated and now boasts a prize-winning restaurant that is drawing diners from as far away as Melbourne (three hours drive away).

MT STURGEON ESTATE ACCOMMODATION
Mt Sturgeon Estate, managed by the award winning Royal Mail Hotel, is a fully operating sheep station nestled at the base of the looming Mount Sturgeon. The property produces more than 1,000 bales of superfine merino wool each year and still retains much of its historical charm. The original 1840s woolshed, shearers' cottages and the beautifully restored sandstone and bluestone homestead remain as testament to the estate's rich colonial past.
Guests of the Mt Sturgeon Estate have full access to hotel facilities including swimming pool, fine dining restaurant (2009 Australian Gourmet Traveller Best Regional Restaurant), bistro and bar. Marked walking trails lead guests into the Grampians National Park and to the Royal Mail Hotel. Native flora and fauna abounds and native animal enclosures housing quolls, sugar gliders and potteroos are available for viewing. Complementary transfers to and from the hotel can also be arranged for diners.

MT STURGEON COTTAGES
